Hello,

I get the message "Fototray blocked" on my HP Envy 7640 and at the same time I hear a ticking sound.

Scanning is working.

Tried everything what's on the forum but nothing helped.

Hopefully you can help me out someway.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Tuur69,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering the message "Fototray blocked" on your HP Envy 7640 printer, along with a ticking sound, it suggests that there may be an issue with the printer's paper tray. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Check for paper jams: Open the printer's paper tray and inspect for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.
  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and power it on. This can often help reset the printer and resolve minor issues.
  • Check paper tray settings: Make sure the paper tray is properly inserted and aligned. Adjust the paper guides in the tray to match the paper size you are using.
  • Clean the paper feed rollers: Dust and debris on the paper feed rollers can cause issues with paper feeding. Gently clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to dry before reinserting the paper tray.
  • Update or reinstall printer drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can sometimes cause issues. Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy 7640 printer. Install the updated drivers and see if it resolves the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,

Tried all the thing but no luck unfortunately.

Are there other options left?

Best regards,

Arthur
