Hi @juls1_70,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error 0x6100004a on the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 usually indicates a paper jam or an issue with the ink carriage. Since you've cleared the paper and the ink cartridges are not moving, it could be a mechanical issue or a problem with the paper feed system. Here’s what you can try to resolve the issue.

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open all accessible doors (paper tray, ink cartridge access door) and look for any paper fragments or obstructions.
  • Make sure the paper trays are properly seated and aligned.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • With the printer turned off and unplugged, gently try to move the ink carriage by hand to see if it can be repositioned.
  • Be cautious not to force it, as this might cause further damage.

Reset the Printer:

  • Some HP printers have a reset function that can be activated by holding down specific buttons.

Inspect the Carriage Assembly:

  • Check for any obstructions or issues with the carriage assembly.

Check the Paper Path:

  • Ensure there are no small pieces of paper or debris in the paper path or inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
