The paper tray on our HP 7001 printer is difficult to remove/replace to add paper. It mechanically sticks or jams as if the tray is too tight in the opening. This is complicated by the pull grip being on the bottom of the tray. Pulling on the tray grip tends to lift the tray making it stick harder. Grabbing the sides works better, but is awkward without anything to grab.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Is the tray defective, need lubricant, or what?
PS I own this printer, but the website is not functioning and does not allow me to add this printer to my account. Another bug for another day.

Remove the paper tray from the printer.
Follow the instructions in this document to check if there's anything stuck inside: https://support.hp.com/ro-en/document/ish_4513496-4037396-16
Also inspect the tray itself, it could be that part of it is broken or bent.
Also make sure the printer is placed on a straight surface.
