HP 9015e Printer Paper Tray design does not handle letter size paper

HP Design Engineers - listen up!  Your paper feed tray design for the HP Office Jet Pro 9015e is inexcusable.  The reason:  Letter size paper is allowed to 'float' due to inadequate tensioning at the bottom of the stack of paper.  There is no way discernible to bring the bottom positioning tension spring to the base of the stack of paper.  As a result, letter size paper does not continuously remain in the proper feed position for the grabber rollers, resulting in multiple page feeds and jams.

I have put a simple solution in place by inserting sponge tensioners in the back of the tray, keeping the paper loaded in its proper location:

You can move this grey plastic forward the sheet to do the same thing.

Thank you for your reply.  I did investigate the leading edge of the paper tray (where the grey button is located), but to no avail.  However, your reply sent me to further investigate that part of the tray.

What I did find, is that the grey button (red circle in your photo) is fixed in its location by the pivot pin that allows the light grey plastic to swing out of the locked position when the grey button is depressed.  Unfortunately, the shorter 'locked' position is NOT correct for letter size paper and the grey button will not slide.  Further inspection on the bottom of the tray revealed that the entire leading edge of the paper tray can be moved forward if the small release tab on the bottom of the tray (see arrow below) is lifted up allowing the entire leading edge of the tray to be moved into the letter size position.

Possibly you and I have a different tray release, but the nice thing is you encouraged me to check further leading to a working solution.
