Hi @Ellen5112,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re dealing with a paper jam in your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 e printer, follow these steps to resolve it:
1. Turn Off the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will prevent any potential damage or injury while you are working on it.
2. Open the Printer
- Open the front and rear access doors to gain full access to the paper path. The exact locations and ways to open these doors can vary, so refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions.
3. Remove the Jammed Paper
- Front Door: If the paper is visible and accessible through the front door, gently pull it out in the direction of the paper path. Avoid tearing the paper as this could leave bits inside the printer.
- Rear Door: If the paper is jammed in the rear of the printer, open the rear access door (or output tray) and carefully pull the paper out. Be sure to pull it out straight to avoid damaging any internal components.
4. Check for Residual Paper
- After removing the jammed paper, check the paper path for any remaining small pieces of paper or debris. Remove any residual paper that you find.
5. Inspect the Paper Tray
- Ensure that the paper in the tray is properly aligned and not overfilled. Make sure that the paper guides in the tray are adjusted to fit the size of the paper you’re using.
6. Close All Doors
- Once you’ve removed the paper and checked for any obstructions, close all doors securely. Ensure that everything is properly aligned.
7. Reconnect and Power On
- Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on. Allow it to initialize and check if it performs a self-test.
8. Print a Test Page
- Try printing a test page or a simple document to ensure that the printer is functioning correctly and that no further paper jams occur.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
