Product: HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer

Suddenly, my printer refuses to work. It reports "Photo Tray Problem: The photo tray is blocked." There is no apparent blockage of the photo tray; it slides back and forth freely. There appears to be no paper stuck in the printer. I have searched this message board and see dozens of other people have had this same problem. The support document to unplug, replug, and rreseat the output tray does not rsolve the problem — for me or any of the others posted here. Is there any solution, or has my printer become trash because of some glitch in the software or hardware? (I see some references to an advanced reset, but don't know how to do that.)
