To clarify, if you power off the unit and turn it back on, does the error immediately show? Or does it show after you tell the printer to print something? If the error shows on power up then you probably have a jammed or dirty sensor. If the error only shows when you try to print then you have either a failure of the pick mechanism or a bad cartridge. On the right side of the cartridge there is a silver shaft that engages with the printer drivetrain when you install the cartridge. I have seen those shafts fail, especially 3rd party products found on discount toner cartridges.
