My client called to say they could not print. If they turned the printer off and back on it would "usually" print the next one job, regardless of the number of pages.

I found that the third tray was not lifting consistently. Sometimes it makes a "ratcheting" sound and sometimes it doesn't try to lift at all.  As a workaround I made the second tray the default but it is a lower capacity tray and they print a lot throughout the day.

The printer comes standard with one manual feed slot, and one sliding tray. The third high-capacity tray is an add-on HP product. Everything has worked well for some time, so it isn't an installation issue or anything like that.  I also don't think it's related to pick-up rollers.  It's just not lifting the paper to where the pick-up rollers can get to the paper.

What is the fix for this third tray issue? Is there a maintenance kit specifically addressing this problem?

Thanks!
