So, yesterday my printer has started giving me a message saying I need to add paper to the main tray even while there is still paper in it.  I added more paper, but it still keeps saying the main tray is empty.  I just bought this one last year (knew it was no longer supported, but it was supposed to be new and was packaged like new).  However, I noticed that when it came to printing pictures from the small photo paper tray it was having issues grabbing the photo paper.  Now that issue has spread to the main tray.  Does anybody know why or how to remedy this?

Please try these steps before updating the Firmware.

First remove all the papers and perform a printer reset

- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

- Wait at least 60 seconds.

- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Next update the Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Then put back the papers and adjust them properly with the paper guides

Try printing

Thank you

Thank you KrazyToad, but already done both. I reset it several times, and HP doesn't have any newer drivers for it. Unfortunately, even though this printer is new in box it's not covered by warranty because it's an older printer.  So, my handy hubby is taking it apart and trying to figure it out. Good thing though is it uses the same printhead as my old one. So, I was able to pull my old one back out and use it.  Just really annoyed that I paid for this printer (supposedly new in box and seemed to be that way), and it's been nothing but problems since day one.
