When duplex printing multiple pages, the printer mangles all pages after the first. Print quality isn't affected, but pages appear like being put through a "ringer". Unlike my previous HP 9025 printer, the letter size paper has no defined back support - the paper must be placed at the 8.5 x 11" line and printing gradually pushes the stack back away, from the front feed. WHY DOESN'T LETTER SIZE PAPER HAVE A DEFINED SETTING as previous printers had? If this is the reason multiple duplex prints are mangled, this is a bad design fault for the 7600 series printers!!

Hi @Jim_Ch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer is mangling pages after the first one during duplex printing, there are a few potential causes and solutions to consider.
- Paper quality and type: Ensure that you are using the correct type and quality of paper that is compatible with your printer. The paper should be within the recommended weight and thickness specifications. Using low-quality or incorrect paper may lead to paper jams and other printing issues.
- Paper alignment and tray adjustments: Check if the paper is loaded properly in the tray. Make sure the paper guides are adjusted correctly to fit the size of the paper you are using (in this case, letter-size paper). If the stack of paper is being pushed back during printing, you may need to adjust the paper guides more firmly to hold the paper in place.
- Printer rollers and maintenance: Over time, printer rollers can accumulate dust and debris, which can cause issues with paper feeding. It's a good idea to clean the printer's rollers and other internal components regularly. Consult your printer's manual or HP's support website for guidance on how to clean the printer properly.
- Firmware and driver updates: Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's software can resolve known issues and improve overall performance.
- Print settings: Ensure that you have selected the correct paper size and type in the printer settings before initiating the duplex printing job. Double-check all the settings to make sure they match the paper you are using.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
