HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

Hello, I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. I had an Inkhead issue. Troubleshooting eventually led me to replacing the Printhead c. After installing the new Printhead, now the printhead does not move when I open the access door and the display says " Missing or Failed Printhead. Any suggestions on what to do to fix this..Thanks

Hi @Webster408,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the ink cartridge in your HP OfficeJet 8610 does not move when you open the access door, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve minor issues.

Check for Any Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer that might be preventing the cartridge carriage from moving.

Manually Move the Cartridge Carriage:

  • If the cartridge carriage is stuck, you can gently try to move it manually. Make sure the printer is turned off before doing this. Use your hand to carefully move the carriage along its track. If you encounter resistance, do not force it.

Inspect for Loose Parts:

  • Check if any parts inside the printer appear to be loose or disconnected, such as cables or mechanical components that might affect the movement of the cartridge carriage.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can sometimes cause issues. Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer or device.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Many HP printers have a reset option. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a reset specific to your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
