Hi @Utsjoki,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 6230 printer prints documents fine but shows an "out of paper" error when printing photos, this issue could be related to paper settings, paper type, or printer firmware. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem:
1. Check Paper Type and Size Settings
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.Right-click on your HP 6230 printer and select Printing preferences.
- In the Printing Preferences window, go to the Paper/Quality tab.Under Paper Type, select the photo paper type (e.g., HP Premium Plus Photo Paper).
Set the Correct Paper Size:
- Ensure that the Paper Size matches the size of the photo paper you are using (e.g., 4x6, 5x7).
Save Settings and Try Printing Again:
2. Check Photo Paper Placemento
- Ensure the photo paper is placed print side down in the paper tray.
- Adjust the paper width guides so that they hold the photo paper firmly but not too tightly.
Check for Obstructions:
- Ensure there are no obstructions in the paper path that might be causing the printer to detect a false "out of paper" error.
3. Update Printer Firmware
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your printer model (HP 6230).Download the latest firmware update for your printer.
Install Firmware:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the firmware update.
4. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Go to the HP Print and Scan Doctor page.
- Follow the instructions to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.Use the tool to diagnose and fix the "out of paper" error.
5. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.Wait for at least 60 seconds.Plug the printer back in and turn it on.Try printing a photo again.
6. Check for Driver Updates
- Go to the HP Support website.Enter your printer model and download the latest driver for your operating system.
- Install the downloaded driver and restart your computer if necessary.Try printing a photo again.
7. Use Different Photo Paper
- Use a different brand or type of photo paper to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
