Hi @Saltire47
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Photosmart 5530 can handle a variety of paper sizes, but it typically doesn't support paper sizes smaller than 4x6 inches directly in the tray. Here are some options to use 3.5-inch photo paper with your printer:
1. Manual Feed
- If your printer has a manual feed slot, you can try to feed the 3.5-inch photo paper one sheet at a time through that slot. Make sure to adjust the guides to fit the smaller paper size.
2. Use Custom Size Setting
- In your print settings, you can often select a custom paper size. If you’re using software that allows for custom sizes (like Adobe Photoshop or similar), set the document size to 3.5 inches and print from there.
3. Trim Larger Paper
- If you're okay with a bit of extra work, you could print on larger paper (like 4x6) and then trim it down to the desired size afterward.
4. Check for Compatibility
- Refer to your printer's manual or the HP support website to see if there are any specific recommendations or limitations regarding using smaller paper sizes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
