The printer prints on plain paper but will not print on the cricut sticker paper. Are there different brands of paper that will work on this printer? will updating the firmware fix my issues?

Not sure - the problem with Cricut paper seems elusive - people ask and the answers are usually unsatisfactory to the results.  That is, try "everything" and nothing helps.

The underlying cause of the problem is perhaps the "back of paper" surface on the sticker paper.

What?

Well, I actually don't "know" that is the case.  It is a guess.

I did hear back from another Cricut paper user on this thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Paper-Jams-Feed-Issues/Cricut-Sticker-Paper-HP-9010-All-in-One...

The OfficeJet Pro 9015 is not the same printer, of course.

The 9015 is similar enough to the OfficeJet Pro 8025 that some things are the same.  For example, both printers support a variety of paper types and weights.

You can certainly check / update the Firmware HP OfficeJet 8020/OfficeJet Pro 8020/OfficeJet Pro 8030 All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update

What if?

Try everything > Nothing helps

The problem might be mechanical - the paper does not "grab" as expected.

For example,

If the glossy backside of the paper is contributing to the problem, there is no "fix" except to use a label paper that is not "slippery" on the backside.

I've never used Cricut paper and I cannot comment on whether other "sticker" paper is made the same or would work.  Label paper of various sizes and shapes (Avery brand, for example) generally prints on HP printers.
