HP Color LaserJet CP6015xh Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The transfer kit of my 6015 has a lot of life left, according to the printer.  However, I suspect it is the original equipment when this printer was purchased over 12 years ago.  I have seen videos of other printers where one can disassemble the transfer kit to clean out the excess toner.

The problem seems to surface when the printer goes cold (I put it asleep after 15 minutes).  After it warms up, and I pull out the transfer kit and wipe the plastic clean, it prints just fine.  (BTW, what is the correct rotation direction.  I'm assuming [facing the kit as I pulled it out] is to rotate the plastic away from me).

I know the perfect solution would be just to replace the kit, but I am a small startup business where pennies count, so if I don't have to spend the $300 on a new kit that would be perfect.  And I am very mechanically and technically inclined, so I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty trying to clean this thing out if it is at all possible.

Thanks!

Gary

Unlikely this is the original belt unless the printer was never used. You are correct that the belt rotates in a counter clockwise direction. You likely want to find a copy of the service manual to assist in your maintenance. The waste toner collector on this model is built into the transfer belt and is not considered user replaceable. Near complete disassembly of the belt assembly would be required as the waste toner is under the mylar belt.
