Hi @skittlzgee

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the urgency! Here's a step-by-step guide to help you clear a paper jam in your printer:

Step 1: Turn Off the Printer

Before starting the process, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This ensures your safety and prevents any further damage to the printer.

Step 2: Open the Printer Access Panels

Depending on your printer model, you may need to open different access panels. These could include:

  • Front panel (where the paper tray is).
  • Rear access door (for models with rear paper feeds or rear exit).
  • Top panel or side panel (for all-in-one or multifunction printers).

Look for the paper jam access points, and open them carefully.

Step 3: Inspect for Paper Jam

Once the panels are open, look for the jammed paper in the printer:

  • Check the paper path: Look at the area where the paper feeds through. This includes areas near the paper tray, print head, and around the rollers.
  • Check the rollers: The paper might be stuck around the rollers. If you see paper, gently pull it out in the direction of the paper path. Be careful not to tear the paper.
  • Check the rear access: If your printer has a rear access door, check there as well because sometimes the paper might be jammed in the back.

Step 4: Gently Remove the Jammed Paper

  • Pull gently: If you find paper jammed in the rollers or elsewhere, pull it out gently in the direction of the paper feed. Do not pull too hard, as this can damage the printer.
  • Remove small pieces: If the paper tears, carefully remove any small pieces of paper stuck in the printer.

Step 5: Check the Paper Tray

After clearing the jam, inspect the paper tray for any crumpled paper or pieces of paper that might be causing the jam. Make sure the tray is loaded properly with unwrinkled and aligned paper.

Step 6: Reset the Printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
