I have now found out that only plain paper can be used in tray 1. When I first got this printer, it was to improve printing on a glossy label material for my business. these labels are die-cut for my packaging so registration is super important. My initial attempts were to use tray 2, but registration was awful and I worked with CS for a while with no solutions. Finally, I put them in tray 1 with a full load of normal paper and I swear that it allowed me to select Specialty Glossy and printed really, really well. This was Nov 2021 and I printed probably 100 sheets this way. I did need to let them "dry" a bit but had no real problems.

Just now I tried to do the same but could not get past the paper selection, so I got on this forum and discovered the tray 1 only plain paper "feature". ACH!

So, a couple of questions. First, why only plain paper in tray 1? Seems arbitrary if it can print on other papers from tray 2. Second, what is different about how the printer applies ink under "Plain Paper" or "Letterhead" and the "Specialty Glossy" settings? I set the print quality to Best and then add Max DPI under Advanced. Then I let them dry a bit longer.

HELP! This was a major investment for my very small micro business and this needs to work!
