In clearing a paper jam, I removed the rollers and another piece of equipment.  I'm having trouble re-installing them.

Hi @tomsmccabe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear that you're having trouble re-installing the rollers and components after clearing the paper jam. It can be tricky, but we’ll work through this!

Here are a few general steps to help with re-installing the rollers:

Verify the Rollers’ Positioning

  • Check the rollers' orientation (they usually have a specific direction in which they need to be installed) and confirm they fit into the designated slots. The larger rollers typically go toward the back of the printer, and the smaller ones toward the front.

Check for Obstructions

  • Ensure there’s no leftover paper or debris that might be blocking the rollers from fitting properly. Even small bits of paper can cause issues.

Align the Rollers Correctly

  • The rollers should be aligned with the gear mechanism (usually in the middle of the printer). Make sure the rollers are not too tight or too loose in the alignment.

Reinstall the Piece (if applicable)

  • If you removed another piece of equipment along with the rollers (like a cover or the paper feed tray), ensure it is properly seated and securely latched before reinstalling the rollers.

Test the Printer

  • Once you've reassembled everything, run a paper through the printer to ensure the rollers are engaging properly and feeding paper without any issues.

If you can’t get them to fit, or if you're unsure about the specific parts, I recommend you contact phone support.
