Do they feed out continuously one at a time or is it just a big clump of paper consisting of all the sheets? As this is an older printer, it is possible that the solenoid in the paper pickup is sticking causing multiple sheets to be fed, which will usually trigger an error code at some point. if a clump it could be that the separation pad that is supposed to keep the machine from feeding more than one page at a time is worn. If you print reports or make copies does the printer function properly? If yes then I would suspect some type of software or driver issue as hardware problems will normally be present regardless of how you are printing.
