Hi @GBLB,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's try to clear the jammed paper from your HP MFP 179fnw. Here are the steps.
- Turn Off the Printer: For safety, make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged.
- Open the Printer: Open the front door and the output tray. Look for any visible paper jams.
- Remove the Toner Cartridge: Carefully take out the toner cartridge. This might give you better access to the jammed paper.
- Check the Paper Path: Look for any paper stuck in the paper path. Gently pull out any visible paper, making sure to pull in the direction of the paper path to avoid tearing it.
- Check the Rear Door: Open the rear access door if your printer has one. Sometimes paper can get jammed here. Gently remove any paper you find.
- Check the Paper Tray: Remove the paper tray and ensure there are no scraps of paper or obstructions in it.
- Close Everything: Once you’ve removed the paper, replace the toner cartridge, close all doors, and plug the printer back in.
- Turn On the Printer: Power the printer back on and check if the issue is resolved.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
