When it does start to print it sounds promising, but then I get the error message to load paper even though there is the correct paper in it. It then starts to grab paper and then it causes a paper jam which I have to take the paper feed tray out and lift up the machine to find a complete wadded up piiece of paper.
I have taken this machine part and cleaned it as recommended. I have shut it down and removed the power as recommended and still having issues. However, it still says to load paper.
I am at a loss here.
Any help/advice is appredciated.

@JustaPtowngal, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer where it repeatedly says "Load Paper" despite paper being present, and then causes paper jams can be frustrating. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve it:
Check the Paper Stack
- Remove all paper from the input tray.
- Inspect for:
- Bent, wrinkled, or torn sheets
- Paper that’s too thick or glossy
- Fan the stack to prevent sheets from sticking.
- Reload the tray with plain, unused paper, making sure it’s aligned and not overfilled.
Inspect and Clean the Paper Pick Rollers
Dust or debris on the rollers can prevent proper paper pickup.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the paper tray and use a flashlight to locate the gray paper pick rollers.
- Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with distilled water.
- Gently clean the rollers, rotating them manually.
- Let them dry for at least 2 minutes before powering the printer back on.
Check for Obstructions
- Look inside the paper path and tray area for any foreign objects or torn paper bits.
- Also check under the printer if you’ve had to lift it to clear jams.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause persistent errors.
- Visit the HP support page and enter your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
