Laserjet M602
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have a Laserjet M602 printer that says "Tray 2 lifting" but never does.

I've tried:

  • Reseating tray 2
  • Readjusting the paper size sliders
  • Reseating the toner cartridge
  • Inspecting that all tray sensors are working correctly (through admin troubleshooting)
  • Inspecting the feeder gear
  • Updating firmware

Here's the thing though, through the troubleshooting menu, I can get it to lift without issue.

If I click "test page path", raises it just fine, prints just fine.

While I'm in the troubleshooting menus too, I can pull out the tray and reinsert it and it'll lift without any issues.

What could possibly be going on here? I tried updating the firmware because it seems like some sort of bug, but that didn't do anything but make the initialization at powerup take longer (more self tests added).

We have seen this issue caused by a faulty toner cartridge. It makes no sense but something you can check.
