Laserjet M608 Tray 2 raise motor runs continuously

HP Recommended

I just received a new LaserJet M608 that I purchased from HP's website.  When I power-up the printer, there is a loud clicking sound coming from Tray 2 that happens as long as the printer is powered-on.  If I remove tray 2, the clicking noise stops, and you can see that the gear on the left side of the printer in the tray 2 area is running.  This motor will stay running as long as the printer is on.  This appears to be the tray 2 lift motor.

Is there a stuck switch or sensor that could cause this condition that I can fix, or is this thing DOA and needs to go back in its box?

It is possible that the sensor for paper detect is not working , honestly brand new, back in the box and RMA.
