Hi @Hellokittymj16,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating when your HP 4500 series printer keeps displaying "canceling document blocked" even after you've deleted the file and tried resetting the printer. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Full Reset:

  • You mentioned unplugging the printer, but make sure you do a full reset:
  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait about 1 minute before plugging it back in.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Clear the Print Queue:

  • Sometimes, documents get stuck in the print queue which can cause issues like this.
  • On your computer, open the control panel and go to "Devices and Printers".
  • Right-click on your HP 4500 printer and select "See what's printing".
  • Open the printer menu and select "Cancel All Documents". Confirm if prompted.

Check for Error Messages or Warnings:

  • Look at the printer’s display for any error messages. Sometimes a hardware error or a warning (like low ink or paper jam) can cause the printer to halt operations.

Update Printer Drivers and Firmware:

  • Outdated drivers or firmware can cause issues with printer operations.
  • Go to the HP website, find the support page for your printer model, and download the latest drivers and firmware. Install them following the instructions provided.

Remove and Re-add Printer:

  • Removing the printer from your list of devices and adding it again can sometimes clear error states.
  • On your computer, go to "Devices and Printers", right-click your printer, and select "Remove device".
  • After removing it, add it back by selecting “Add a printer” and follow the prompts to reinstall your printer.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP offers a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, designed to diagnose and resolve printing problems.
  • Download it from the HP website, run it, and follow the on-screen instructions to fix issues detected with your printer.

Factory Reset:

  • If none of the above steps work, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. You can usually find this option in the printer’s menu under settings. Note that this will remove all settings, returning the printer to its original factory state.

If after trying these steps, the problem still persists, there might be a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
