HP DeskJet 3762 All-in-One Printer

I know it's not jammed as I reset it by pressing the on and cancel keys and it printed a test page but when I try to print a document it says check printer, blocked. Help!

Hi @Abi152,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3762 printer is displaying a paper jam error message even though there doesn't seem to be a paper jam, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open all covers and compartments of the printer carefully.
  • Inspect for any small pieces of paper, debris, or foreign objects that might be causing the false jam error.
  • Use a flashlight if necessary to get a better view.

Reload Paper:

  • Remove the paper from the input tray.
  • Make sure the paper stack is properly aligned and not too thick. Fan the paper to prevent sticking.
  • Reload the paper into the input tray.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute or two.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

Check Rollers and Sensors:

  • Examine the rollers in the printer for any debris or dirt that might be causing misfeeds.
  • Make sure the sensors that detect paper presence are clean and not obstructed.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Sometimes printer driver issues can lead to false error messages.
  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download them from the official HP support website.
  • If you suspect driver issues, you might also consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect any USB cables or other connections.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.

Check Paper Settings:

  • Make sure the paper settings in the print settings on your computer match the type and size of paper you're using.

Factory Reset:

  • This should be a last resort.
  • Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings to their defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
