My documents are getting mangled during the printing process. This is the second printer in two months that just aged out of warranty. Does anyone have a simple solution for this or do I need to replace both printers?

Hi @Reba_HH,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're dealing with this issue! Here are a few troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740:
- Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, paper jams or obstructions can cause mangled prints. Open all the paper trays and access areas to make sure there's no paper stuck inside.
- Inspect the Paper Path: Look for any worn or dirty rollers in the paper path. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water if they're dirty. Make sure the rollers are not damaged.
- Use the Correct Paper Type: Ensure you're using the recommended paper type and size for your printer. Sometimes, using paper that is too thick or too thin can cause issues.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app to find and install any available updates. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check Printer Settings: Verify that your printer settings match the paper type and size you’re using. Incorrect settings can sometimes lead to mangled documents.
- Run Printer Diagnostics: Use the built-in diagnostic tools available in the printer’s settings menu or the HP Smart app. These tools can help identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Clean the Printheads: If your prints are coming out mangled, the printheads might be clogged or dirty. Run the printhead cleaning cycle from the printer’s menu.
