Hi @MARLENED2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the "Photo Tray is Blocked" error on your HP ENVY Inspire 7900e printer. This issue can occur even when the tray appears unblocked, often due to misalignment or residual packaging materials.

Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure Proper Placement:
    • Confirm that the printer is on a flat, stable surface.
    • Push in the output tray extender.
    • Pull out the input tray without removing it.
    • Remove any paper or obstructions from the photo tray area.
    • Reinsert the input tray securely.

  2. Check for Packaging Materials:
    • Ensure all tape, cardboard, and protective materials from the printer setup have been removed.
    • Pay special attention to the photo tray area, as leftover materials can cause blockage errors.

  3. Inspect the Photo Tray:
    • Remove the photo tray and check for any misalignment or debris.
    • Reinsert the tray, ensuring it sits flush and clicks into place.
    • Some users have found that slightly lifting the left side of the tray (using a small shim) can help align it properly.

  4. Check for Missing Components:
    • Verify that all components, such as the cream-colored plastic piece that sits on top of the tray, are installed correctly. Missing parts can trigger blockage errors.

  5. Reset the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
    • This can help reset any error messages.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
