Hi @Debbie619,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 5660 printer is displaying a message to load paper even though there is paper in the tray, you can try the following troubleshooting steps.

Check the Paper:

  • Ensure the paper is properly loaded in the tray.
  • Make sure the paper is not curled, wrinkled, or stuck together.
  • Verify that the paper meets the printer’s specifications.

Adjust Paper Settings:

  • Adjust the paper guides in the tray to fit the paper size.
  • Ensure the paper tray is fully inserted into the printer.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the access doors and locate the paper rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely before closing the printer and turning it back on.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all access areas and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully to avoid tearing it.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP Support website.
  • Update the printer drivers on your computer.

Test with Different Paper:

  • Try loading a different type or brand of paper to see if the issue persists.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
