HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

I really didnt know where to post this so moderators please move this post if it belongs somewhere else.

So long story short, I bought this printer, used it for a few months and then gave it to my parents. One day my niece pulls out the encoder strip or so I been told. My mom bought the part and said you fix it. Months have passed since then and Im not getting around to realizing that I have zero clue on how to fix this printer. This printer is out of warranty and I didnt get the extended warranty. Im sure if I were to send this printer to an HP service center I would be charged an arm and a leg but Im willing to at least consider how much it would cost to get this serviced. I have two questions:

1. Where and what must I do to find out about sending my printer to a service repair center

2. Is it possible at all that I might be able to install the encoder strip myself? How much do I have to dissassemble this to install the encoder strip? Im not even really sure where it goes - Any help in this regard is most appreciated.

Hi @chainlynx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a carriage jam issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-In-One Printer as the encoder strip is cut. This is a hardware issue and the printer has to be sent to the service center only. The encoder strip is not a customer-replaceable part.
