How do I reset the printer so that it will clear the error message

Jams on this model are usually caused by a worn pick up roller.  Google Secondary Service menu for this model.  Select Rotate pick up roller.  Remove power cord.  Remove cassette tray.  Remove toners and other cables.  Stand printer on rear cover and clean pick up roller.  Re-assemble.  Also, setting the default paper type and cassette tray paper type to "Intermediate" weight sometimes solves problem.

If you had a jam or a piece of paper seemed to disappear it is likely that it is wrapped around the fuser and you will not be able to clear the error until that jam is removed. The other possibility is either a stuck flag or small piece of paper from previous jam that is holding a flag open. Recheck the paper path carefully.

Great fuser jam feedback.  Does printer boot up and immediately display jam error or does it boot to Ready? Does paper leave cassette tray?
