When I try to print a photo on photo paper, it jams and I have to remove it from the back. It just started doing this. Is there a reason the photo paper won't feed through and print?

Hi @klmorrison,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP OfficeJet 8702 printer starts jamming while using photo paper, there are a few common issues to consider:
Paper Type and Quality: Ensure that the photo paper you're using is compatible with your printer. Not all photo papers are suitable for all printers, and using the wrong type can lead to jams. Check the weight and thickness specifications recommended by HP for your model.
Paper Condition: Check if the photo paper is not damaged, wrinkled, or too glossy. Extremely glossy or curled edges can cause feeding issues.
Printer Roller and Tray Adjustment: Clean the rollers to remove any dust or debris that might be causing the paper to jam. Also, ensure that the paper tray is correctly adjusted to fit the size of the photo paper. Misaligned trays can lead to improper feeding and jams.
Printer Settings: Adjust the printer settings to match the type of photo paper you're using. This can usually be done through the printer menu or the printing preferences on your computer. Selecting the correct paper type ensures that the printer adjusts its feeding mechanism appropriately.
Printer Maintenance: If the printer has not been maintained or cleaned regularly, accumulated dust and dirt could affect its ability to feed paper smoothly. Check the printer’s manual for maintenance tips, such as how to clean the rollers and other parts that come into contact with paper.
Firmware Update: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes, HP release updates that improve the performance of the printer and solve issues like paper jams.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
