I want to know if my printer tray is broken or not set correctly.  Whenever I print anything, the printer grabs more than one page, usually two or more sheets.  The printed text is not aligned on the paper correctly because it grabs so many pages.  When I pull the tray out, it seems to slide back and forth freely, which may contribute to the feeding problem.  Anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

Thank you.

@Gooddaisy, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer picks more than 1 paper while printing. Fan the papers before placing them in the tray.

Make sure the papers are properly loaded in the input tray. Refer to - Loading paper, envelopes

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - An 'Out of Paper' error displays, printer does not pick paper

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
