I need help setting the paper tray to adjust to different paper sizes on the OfficeJet Pro 8025e.  I can easily adjust the paper tray to the legal size paper (8x14) but for the regular size paper of 8x11, there seems to leave a 1-2 inch gap.  Even if I manually push the paper to the end, the machine will not pick up the paper.  I hear the machine rolling to pick up the paper but the gap is to wide and the machine is not picking up the paper.

What is wrong with the machine?

I had never had any such problems with any other printer.  This is very frustrating.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

Not sure - should not be weird, I think.

For those reading:

User Guide

Loading Legal sized paper involves extending the paper tray to accommodate the longer paper size.

Press the Release button to release the tray.

I found a description in another thread that mentions adjusting the tray for the paper.

Paraphrased (hopefully correct - I cannot verify)...

Reload / Reset for regular paper

Remove the larger paper.

Press the small rectangular gray button on the tray bottom (off off center from the middle, a bit to the right)

The extended section should be moved back into place when regular paper is used.

Press from the end of the tray to push the tray back into the "smaller size" configuration.

Load the regular size paper into the tray and close the tray.

Side Note...

In so much that I am aware, it is not necessary to restart the printer after changing from legal back to regular sized paper - but if all else fails, you could certainly add that to your checklist.

Perhaps the printer is not aware you have changed the paper size / type.

Paper Setting on Printer Control / Display Panel

OR

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)...

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Display Panel

Open Printer Tray,

NOTE

If you are having trouble with getting the printer to accept (new) paper,

Remove the stack of paper from the tray

Lightly flex (do not fan) the paper to separate the single sheets

Restack together so the edges match along all sides

Return the paper to the tray

else

Wait a few seconds

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the Printer Control Display Panel,

Click Modify / Change / No-Yes (wording varies), adjust the paper size and type, Click OK

No Size?  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom
