HP LaserJet P1606dn
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Every time I print anything on my printer, it feeds one more extra paper until reaching the middle and then gets stuck there. When I send multiple print jobs to it, all of them get printed normally and then that happens. I think it's software-related (maybe I'm doing something wrong on my Mac) because if it were printer-related it would happen after every printed page or at least on every print job.

Hi @iakanoe,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue you're experiencing with your HP LaserJet P1606dn printer may be related to the printer's configuration or settings rather than a hardware problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the printer properties or settings on your Mac.Verify that the paper size and type settings match the paper loaded in the printer.Ensure that any special print settings (such as duplex printing or paper source) are correctly configured.

2. Reset Printer Settings:

  • Reset the printer to its factory default settings to clear any potential configuration errors.Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

3. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP LaserJet P1606dn printer.Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website if updates are available.

4. Adjust Paper Settings:

  • Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are properly aligned and holding the paper securely.Fan the paper to remove any static or moisture before loading it into the printer.Try using a different batch or type of paper to see if the issue persists.

5. Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your Mac and verify that there are no pending or stuck print jobs.Cancel any incomplete print jobs and try printing again to see if the issue recurs.

6. Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Remove the printer from your Mac's list of installed printers.Download and install the latest printer driver from the HP website.
  • Re-add the printer to your Mac and test printing again.

7. Test with Different Applications:

  • Try printing from different applications on your Mac to see if the issue is specific to one program.Use a simple text editor or PDF viewer to create a test document and print it to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
