Hi @rakeshsaini9950,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 790 All-in-One printer is showing a paper jam error despite there being no visible obstruction, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot.
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear any temporary issues.
- Check for Paper Debris: Even if you don't see a jam, check all paper paths and trays for small pieces of paper or debris that could be causing the sensor to misread.
- Inspect the Paper Path: Open all accessible doors and trays, and carefully check the paper path for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects. Sometimes, even a small piece of paper can cause a jam error.
- Reset the Printer: Perform a printer reset. This can be done through the printer’s control panel or settings menu. Consult the user manual for instructions specific to your model.
- Clean the Rollers: Dust or paper residue on the rollers can cause jams. Clean the rollers gently with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of water if needed. Make sure they are completely dry before closing the printer.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs related to error messages.
- Run Printer Diagnostics: Many HP printers have built-in diagnostics tools. Check if your printer has this feature and run it to see if it identifies any issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
