Hi @Deverly6972,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 keeps showing a paper problem alert, even after checking for jams and reloading the tray, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue further.
Check the Paper Settings:
- Go to the printer’s control panel and ensure that the paper size, type, and tray settings match the loaded paper. Incorrect settings can cause the printer to think there is a paper issue.
Clean the Paper Rollers:
- Dust or dirt on the rollers can prevent them from picking up paper correctly. You can clean the rollers by following these steps:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the paper tray and locate the paper rollers.
- Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the rollers.
- Let them dry completely, then reinsert the paper tray and try printing again.
Fan the Paper Stack:
- Remove the paper from the tray, fan the stack to prevent pages from sticking together, and then reload the tray. Ensure the stack is aligned and within the tray’s paper width guides.
Inspect the Paper Path:
- Check for any small debris or obstructions in the paper path that could be causing the issue. Sometimes small scraps of paper are hard to spot but can trigger error messages.
Update Firmware:
- Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website. Updates often address software bugs that might cause paper feed issues.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, disconnect it from the power source for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This hard reset can clear any residual error states.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
