Hi @Steve8210,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing consistent paper feed issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8210 printer, where the paper is delayed by 5/8" about 25% of the time, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take.
- Check Paper Quality: Ensure that you are using high-quality, standard-sized paper that meets the printer's specifications. Low-quality or damaged paper can cause feed issues.
- Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the input tray are properly aligned with the paper. If they are too tight or too loose, it can lead to misfeeds.
- Clean Paper Path and Rollers: Dust and debris can accumulate on the paper path and rollers, leading to feed issues. Gently clean the rollers and the paper path using a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water.
- Update Firmware/Drivers: Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's software can resolve performance issues.
- Paper Type and Size Settings: Ensure that the paper type and size settings on the printer match the actual paper you are using. Incorrect settings can result in misalignment during printing.
- Print Calibration Page: Some printers have a calibration or alignment feature. Refer to your printer's manual to find instructions on how to print a calibration page. This can help align the printhead and improve print quality.
- Reset Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again.
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no foreign objects, such as paper scraps or debris, inside the printer that might be causing the paper feed issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
