Paper feeder doesn't take paper for scanning and faxing

Unable to get the printer paper feeder to take in paper in the paper feeder when scanning or faxing.  Trying scanning from the HP Smart App.  Using the touch screen for faxing.  Brand new printer.

Please follow the instructions in step 3 from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06262856 to clean the paper rollers

Also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thanks for the tips.  I ended opening a case with the support team and they had me return the unit to the place I purchased it.  I bought a HP Envy Photo 7800 and it works perfectly out of the box.
