Likely the solenoid on the pickup is sticking, which is a common issue on older printers. The bumper material they use degrades and gets sticky. Requires partial disassembly to clean the solenoid and replace the bumper material. YouTube has plenty of videos on this procedure or find a service manual and use that as a guide.
