Hi @Daviboy30,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a paper jam can be frustrating, but it's important to approach it carefully to avoid damaging your printer further. Here's a general guide to help you clear the paper jam in your HP Photosmart A616 Printer.
- Turn off the Printer: Before doing anything, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This is crucial for your safety and to prevent any further damage.
- Access the Jammed Area: Open the printer cover or any access doors provided to reach the jammed paper. Sometimes, the jammed paper can be accessed from the front, back, or top of the printer depending on its design.
- Remove Jammed Paper: Gently pull out any visible pieces of paper. Try to remove them in the direction of paper path to avoid tearing. Be cautious not to rip the paper, as any torn bits left behind might cause further jams.
- Check for Trapped Paper: Use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the printer thoroughly. Look for any small bits of paper or foreign objects that may be causing the jam. Use tweezers or a pair of small, blunt-nose pliers to carefully remove any debris.
- Reset the Printer: After clearing the jam, close all access doors securely. Plug in the printer and turn it back on. The printer may perform a self-test or calibration routine. Allow it to finish before attempting to print again.
- Test Print: Once everything is cleared and reset, try printing a test page to ensure the printer is functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
