Trying to print A3 document direct without going via P.C but by pressing copy. All print setting has A3 size selected as preferred print size, but when copy selected I keep getting error message saying tray size does not match size selected for job, keeps indicating letter size even though A3 has been setup. Can anyone advise how I can correct this,i'm not a printer expert by any means !!.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

COPY might not be able to do what you intend.

Should it be possible, the settings can be checked using the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

If the paper size you want to use is listed in the Default Copy Options, you can copy the larger content onto the larger paper.

Example - Different Printer - Meant to illustrate possible settings

Notes --

  • The largest paper size supported by the sample printer is "Legal".
  • The example shows that although you can initiate Copy with the "Original Size" of the content set to size Legal, the Paper Size used to print the output is limited to "A4" / "Letter" (regular size paper).  This means the larger content must be shrunk to fit on the smaller paper (72%).

What else?

Use Scan instead - Save the content - Print at the size you want.

Reminders (Windows)

  • Printing on A3 requires having installed the full driver printer software
  • Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver should be set to the HP driver and not the Microsoft / IPP driver
