Hi @Nhorz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the carriage of your HP610 printer is not moving, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
- Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no paper jams, foreign objects, or debris obstructing the movement of the carriage. Carefully inspect the entire printer's interior and the carriage path.
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Power cycling can sometimes resolve minor glitches.
- Restart Computer and Printer: Sometimes, a communication issue between the computer and printer can cause problems. Restart both your computer and the printer to see if that helps.
- Check Ink or Toner Levels: If the ink or toner cartridges are empty or very low, some printers might prevent the carriage from moving. Check the ink or toner levels and replace cartridges if necessary.
- Perform a Hard Reset: Depending on your printer model, there might be a procedure to perform a hard reset. Consult your printer's manual or HP's official support documentation for instructions.
- Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can cause various issues. Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download them from the official HP website.
- Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or blinking lights on the printer's control panel. These indicators can provide insight into the nature of the problem.
- Manually Move the Carriage: If the carriage is stuck in a certain position, you might be able to gently move it back and forth to free it. However, be extremely careful not to force it, as this could cause further damage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
