Printer cartridge cannot move

HP Recommended
HP Officejet 4630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my printer is throwing up an error message whenever I try to print: "the print cartridge cannot move". I can manually move the cartridge to reset its position but the issue just happens again. I've followed the steps here but nothing has resolved this: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4630-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5305049/model/530... 

 

It's the same issue as user Quinceya23 had on this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Paper-Jams-Feed-Issues/Printer-cartridge-cannot-move/td-p/7889... I tried to respond there but it's closed. 

 

(I don't know exactly how old the printer is but unless there's a 10 year warranty on these things I'm guessing it's not under coverage).

Hi @AlexWooks,

 

As you have all the troubleshooting steps,  this does seem like a hardware issue, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region regarding service options for your printer.

 

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

 

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
