My printer has an error code of 0X6100004a. It says there is a paper jam, but there is not. What can I do?

Hi @Movingon2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting an error message 0X6100004a on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Make sure you have followed all the steps in this document: HP OfficeJet 6900 Printers - A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays

if the issue persists, then we need to perform a Semi full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hi @Dinu7488,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a paper issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document: HP Printers - Paper Jam Error
