After trouble fee use, my MFP M225dn started jamming every time I tried to print double sided. Besides this irritating problem, the printer works as expected. Research indicated that the issue likely involves dusty/dirty rollers/components. The user's manual suggests wiping the rollers down with cloth. But before I attempt to clean the interior of this printer, I was hoping someone familiar with this issues might suggest specific areas to clean, confirm the likely cause of the jamming being dusty/dirty rollers or perhaps suggest a different cause., Thanks in advance!

Hi @Umrk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear about the frustration you’re experiencing with your MFP M225dn jamming during double-sided printing. I understand how disruptive it can be when a reliable printer starts encountering issues, especially when everything else seems to work fine. Let’s explore the likely causes and solutions to get your printer back to functioning smoothly.

Let's try these steps.

Pickup Rollers:

  • These rollers feed paper into the printer and are often the primary culprits for jams when dusty or worn. Locate them near the paper tray and gently clean them with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.

Duplexing Rollers (Double-Sided Path):

  • These rollers handle the paper during duplex printing. Access them by opening the duplexing area or the rear panel (refer to your printer manual for exact location). Clean these rollers thoroughly to ensure they grip the paper properly.

Paper Path Sensors and Rollers:

  • Dust or debris on sensors and rollers along the paper path can cause misalignment or slippage. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clear out any visible dust.

Exit Rollers:

  • These rollers handle the final stage of the paper’s journey. Check for any buildup of toner residue or dust.

Paper Tray and Guides:

  • Clean the tray and ensure the paper guides are snug against the paper to prevent skewing during feeding.

Additional steps:

  • Ensure you’re using clean, undamaged, and supported paper. Worn or overly thin paper can increase the risk of jams.
  • Avoid overloading the paper tray, as this can put extra strain on the rollers.
  • If cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue, the rollers might be worn out and need replacement. HP’s maintenance kits often include replacement rollers for common wear parts.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
