Hi @AnnOC,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, which is good. Here are some additional things you can try.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
- Check for Jammed Paper Elsewhere: Even if the photo tray seems clear, there might be a small piece of paper stuck somewhere else in the printer. Carefully open any access doors or panels and check for any obstructions.
- Clean the Rollers: Dust and debris on the rollers can cause paper jams. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the rollers. Make sure they are completely dry before using the printer again.
- Check Paper Type and Size Settings: Ensure that the paper type and size settings in both your printer and computer match the paper loaded in the tray. Using the wrong settings can sometimes cause the printer to think there's a jam.
- Update Firmware/Drivers: Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your printer model. Sometimes, outdated software can cause issues.
- Reset the Printer: Most printers have a reset option in their settings menu. Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults and then reconfigure it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
