Hi @Jim12954,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code Ox6100004a on an HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 indicates a hardware issue with the printer. This error can be related to a variety of problems, including a paper jam, carriage issues, or even problems with the printer's internal components.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue.
Check for Paper Jam:
- Make sure there is no paper jammed inside the printer. Open all doors and remove any paper that may be stuck.
- Check the paper path and the carriage area for any obstructions.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Inspect for Foreign Objects:
- Make sure there are no foreign objects (such as paper clips, staples, or debris) inside the printer.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions in the carriage path. Make sure the carriage can move freely.
Inspect Ink Cartridges:
- Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Also, make sure they are not damaged or empty.
Clean the Printhead:
- Some errors can be caused by a clogged printhead. Follow your printer's manual or instructions from HP's website to clean the printhead.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
