All of a sudden it seems like our laser jet printer is printing slower than normal, and with hardly a sound.  I have tried to find a corrected action to this.  I have unplugged and restarted both computer and printer.  It works for a few minutes then back to slow mode.  How do I get a technician to come and look at this before my warranty expires?

This product does not have onsite warranty, it has a whole unit exchange warranty but you will need to contact technical support and go through their troubleshooting before they will authorize an exchange. Phone Assist Worldwide | HP® Official Site

Couple of things to check before you call, because they will ask:

1. Is the device plugged directly into the wall, any surge protector or UPS will cause the printer to behave erratically. The printer requires direct, clean power to perform well.

2. What type of media are you using? Heavy or narrow media will slow the printer down to prevent damage to the fuser from overheating when using narrow media and also to ensure that on heavy media the fuser stays hot enough to bond the toner properly.

3. Setting the media type of heavy, glossy or other types can cause slow downs as well to prevent toner smearing during the feed process before the toner is bonded.
