Hi @Asta57,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer stays in an error state and the attention light is blinking, even though test prints and network printing work, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check Error Codes and Messages

Identify the Error:

  • Check the printer's display or the error message for any specific error codes or descriptions. This information can be helpful in diagnosing the issue.

Consult Printer Manual:

  • Refer to your printer’s manual or HP’s online support for information about the specific error code or message.

2. Basic Troubleshooting

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all accessible areas of the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no issues such as low ink levels or cartridge misalignment.

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected. For network printers, check your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

Update Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the drivers and check if the issue is resolved.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
  • Reinstall the latest drivers from HP's website.

4. Check Printer Settings

Printer Status:

  • In Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select See what’s printing. Ensure there are no pending jobs causing issues.
  • In macOS, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and check for any error messages.

Reset Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset if your printer’s manual provides instructions for resetting. This can often resolve persistent errors.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Update Firmware:
    • Go to the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and check if there are any available firmware updates. Follow the instructions to update your printer’s firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
