Hi @Mary4931,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 6052 All-In-One Printer is showing a "Tray Open" error message despite being brand new, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Ensure the Tray is Properly Closed

  • Pull out the input tray completely and check for any protective tape or packaging materials that might be preventing it from closing properly.
  • Push the tray back in firmly until you hear or feel a click, ensuring it is securely in place.

2. Check for Obstructions

  • Open the input and output trays and inspect them for any objects, packaging materials, or misaligned parts.
  • Remove any obstructions and ensure the paper is loaded properly.

3. Inspect Tray Sensors

  • The printer has a sensor that detects whether the tray is closed. This sensor might be blocked or misaligned.
  • Use a flashlight to check inside the printer where the tray connects. Look for any debris or misaligned parts.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 2 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Check if the error message persists.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • If the printer is connected to a network or computer, check for firmware updates using the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
